Each year the South Hill Festival draws the community together in celebration. Entertainers perform on stage, artists lead community art projects, street sports get people moving while arts, social justice and environmental groups invite people to get involved and change the world, one neighbourhood at a time.

The 2011 South Hill Festival took place on Saturday, May 28^th . It was a fabulous afternoon packed with people, laughter and enthusiasm. Artist, Shary Bartlett designed and created a participatory art project called “Weaving Community”. Many hands helped Shary to weave light, fluttery fabric strips in and out of an 8-foot wide netting, creating a woven “painting” of the sunset behind the mountains. In another corner of the site, Dan & Molly Law had set up their hand cranked printing press and led several hundred people through the process of lino cut print making. Thanks Neighbourhood Small Grants and the Vancouver Foundation for sponsoring these art projects!
